Mr. Cohen is a partner in the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Cohen was a partner in the real estate department of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, L.L.P. Mr. Cohen started his career as an associate in the Chicago office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP.

Details of Practice
Mr. Cohen concentrates his practice on the representation of commercial real estate developers. Mr. Cohen routinely represents investors in the acquisition, disposition, financing, development, leasing and ownership of commercial properties, including hotels and resorts, multi-family projects and industrial, office and mixed-use developments. He also advises owners and developers with respect to entity formation issues and entity document negotiation. Mr. Cohen has been selected as one of the top real estate attorneys in San Antonio by Scene in SA Magazine and as a Texas Rising Star by Texas Monthly Magazine.

Representative Transactions

Represented the seller of a $200 million+ resort and golf course.
Represented a developer in the acquisition, financing, construction, leasing and ultimate sale of a $100 million+ multi-property office and industrial portfolio.
Represented a national hotel company in a series of dispositions of its hotel portfolio, including the sale of a total of thirty-five hotels located in fourteen states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
Represents regional real estate developers in the acquisition, anchor leasing, financing and sale of grocery anchored shopping centers.
Represents a national hotel developer in connection with the nationwide development, financing and ownership of nationally flagged hotels.
Represented institutional real estate fund in investment program with national retail developer to acquire, lease, develop and sell retail properties throughout the United States.
Represented a life insurance company in connection with a $75 million+ multi-state loan transaction to a real estate investment trust.
Represented a pension fund advisor in the acquisition, ownership, leasing and disposition of several large office projects.
