Mr. Cohen is a partner in the firm. Prior to this, he served as a partner and associate for 8 years with Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, L.L.P. In addition, he was an associate with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP in Chicago, Illinois.

Details of Practice
Mr. Cohen concentrates his practice on commercial real estate representing investors in the acquisition, disposition, financing, development, leasing and ownership of commercial properties; developers of retail, office and industrial properties and owners and developers of hotel properties. He also advises owners and developers with respect to entity formation issues. Mr. Cohen has been selected as one of the top real estate attorneys in San Antonio by Scene in SA Magazine and as a Texas Rising Star by Texas Monthly Magazine.

Representative Transactions

  • Represented a national hotel company in a series of dispositions of its hotel portfolio, including the sale of a total of thirty-five hotels located in fourteen states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
  • Represented a number of regional real estate developers in the acquisition, leasing, financing and sale of several grocery anchored shopping centers.
  • Represented institutional real estate fund in investment with national retail developer to acquire, lease, develop and sell retail properties throughout the United States.
  • Represented a life insurance company in connection with a multi-state loan transaction with a real estate fund.
  • Represented a pension fund advisor in the acquisition, ownership, leasing and disposition of several large office projects.
